Ooooh, I love this photo! It is probably one of my favorites of the 5 trillion photo's Solli took on our latest USDA-Forest Service contract. What you can't see in this photo is the hill of red ants that I stood in for a hot minute that started crawling up my pants during our 2022 contract. Why?!?! That was an exciting time! NOT! Chalk it up to "the cost of doing business". Ugh! This photo was taken in the late fall of 2023. So, it's a little bit old, but still means a lot to me. I'm not sure what this landscape looks like today, now that we are moving towards spring on the Northern Great Plains with a really warm and dry winter nearly behind us, but one thing is for sure; the leaves are now detritus and the trees are threatening to bud again for a new season of hope and new beginnings! Some of you might have seen that we are starting a podcast and are in the mid-stages of writing something really cool stuff! One thing is for sure, co-authoring is not easy. It's not like I'm giving away a big secret here. When that first Harry Potter book came out, you knew a second one was coming...don't tell me you didn't know? This is kind of a teaser trailer, but we will publish something this year and will be WAY more exciting than stepping in an ant hill!
What I want to reiterate today is how partnerships are not always easy, but they are worth it! You've heard it before and it is true. Humans are meant for community. Even if you swear you are the biggest introvert on the planet and you love uncomfortable silences. ALERT ALERT! HOT OFF THE PRESSES: Solli and I don't always agree. WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY??? I'm sorry if I just ruined your day. Well, it's not really hot news. Who agrees all the time? Nobody agrees with everyone all the time. Partnerships are not easy. Spouses, co-workers, friends, kids. We all come to the table with different viewpoints. What is important is that we are working towards the same goals and what is important to us is what keeps us going - because we share that end goal....wait for it....get ready: Helping Business Do Business! That sounds kinda vague, but it's where we started. We still do it! Anyway, now that we have literally JUST closed out the last federal contract, it is time to really start working harder on our current projects. Helping women get to where they want to be and working in Government Contracting (to mention a few things).
What does that even mean, grasshoppa'? Well, let's ask him/her (see below - I am not an entomologist so we will have to take a guess on grasshopper gender here). I'm going to trot out this grasshopper photo yet again because it is probably one of the coolest photo's ever taken on the planet. I mean, a grasshopper than can read a map is phenomenal. Even grasshoppers understand the importance of GIS! Stay tuned. Working together works. Working together is meaningful. It can be hard. It can also be super fun, magical and fantastic! The grasshopper needed a map to make his next management decision. Chances are high every rancher will hate this grasshoppers decision. Destructive buggers! But, in the end, working together is how we get work done. Sometimes it is messy, but it is always meaningful and even.....beautiful!
